Getting through Clark County courts in Las Vegas without wasting a trip
You showed up at 200 Lewis Avenue and the marshal says your ticket belongs at 100 E. Clark Avenue. Or you’re trying to file a small claim and the counter you need is on a different floor. This is the quick way to match your task to the right Clark County courthouse, the right counter, and the hours that are actually open.
Not sure which court has your case?
Clark County uses three different trial courts, and they are not interchangeable. The Eighth Judicial District Court handles major civil and criminal cases, family, and probate. Its main building is the Regional Justice Center (RJC), 200 Lewis Ave in downtown Las Vegas. Civil and criminal filing counters sit on the RJC’s third floor. The building is open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., while the Clerk’s public counters run Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
The Las Vegas Justice Court (LVJC) covers limited-jurisdiction matters in the Las Vegas Township, including small claims (money-only) up to $10,000, summary evictions, and civil traffic infractions issued in the County’s unincorporated areas. Its customer-service windows are inside the RJC. Those windows operate Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
Municipal Courts handle city ordinance misdemeanors and city traffic citations written inside city limits. The three locals residents most often need are: Las Vegas Municipal Court, 100 E. Clark Ave (Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.), Henderson Municipal Court, 243 Water St, 3rd Floor (Monday–Thursday, 7:45 a.m.–5 p.m.), and North Las Vegas Municipal Court, 2332 Las Vegas Blvd N, Suite 100 (Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.). If your citation lists one of these addresses, go there rather than the RJC.
What time should I actually show up downtown?
If you are going to the RJC for unscheduled business like records or paying at a window, you will move faster outside the morning rush. Lines at security and counters are heaviest from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The RJC has multiple nearby paid garages and lots that charge by the half hour; build parking time into your plan. No weapons or similar items are allowed past security. Examples that will be taken at the door include guns, knives, box cutters, and metal tools.

How do common tasks work here, and what do they cost?
Small claims
Small claims in Clark County are handled by the Justice Courts. In Las Vegas Township that is the LVJC inside the RJC. The statewide cap is $10,000 for money-only claims. Filing fees vary by claim amount and by justice court. As one current benchmark inside the County, North Las Vegas Justice Court charges $196 to file a claim in the $7,500.01–$10,000 range. If you are filing at a different justice court, use that court’s published schedule for the exact amount.
Copies of District Court records
For certified District Court copies ordered through the Clerk, the fee is $0.50 per page plus a $3 certification charge. Civil and criminal records requests are submitted to the District Court Clerk and fulfilled via the RJC third-floor records counter during the 9 a.m.–4 p.m. public window hours.
Protection orders
Domestic violence protection orders are filed through the Family Court campus at 601 N Pecos Rd. Stalking and harassment, sexual assault, harm to children, and workplace orders start at the RJC’s first-floor Self-Help Center, 200 Lewis Ave. Both self-help locations run walk-in service 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday–Friday. Staff provide forms and process information; they do not give legal advice.
City citation programs and fixed fees
The Las Vegas Municipal Court runs several programs with fixed, posted charges. Examples as of today: a court-ordered DUI education program has a $225 program fee. The court’s evaluation center lists $100 for in-state evaluations and $250 for out-of-state. The house arrest program posts a $100 administrative enrollment fee and a $12 per day monitoring fee. Program payments are made directly with Las Vegas Municipal Court at 100 E Clark Ave during its Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m. public hours.
If you received a City of Las Vegas traffic citation and plan to pay it online, the court states that citations can take up to 14 business days to appear in its system, and longer if the citing agency was Nevada Highway Patrol. If you prefer to pay in person, go to 100 E Clark Ave; the defendant must appear to enter a plea at the counter before payment is accepted.
